Hyperhidrosis

Most people think that botox can only be used to reduce the appearance of wrinkles. This is not the case as it can also be used to reduce excessive sweating otherwise known as hyperhidrosis. If you experience excessive sweating in your hands, feet, underarms or forehead at comfortable temperatures or outside of exercise, this could be an option for you. The cause of hyperhidrosis is unknown but is thought to relate to the overstimulation of nerves to the sweat glands leading to increased perspiration. Botox works by blocking the nerve signals that stimulate sweat glands, preventing overproduction of sweat. This will not affect sensation in the injected areas and the duration varies person to person but can be anywhere from 3-4 months. If excessive sweating has taken a toll on your life, come find out about our botox treatments.
